HAMPDEN – The East girls edged the West 4-3 and the West boys tipped the East 2-1 in the Maine Soccer Coaches Senior Bowl Sunday at Weatherbee Field.
In the girls game, Lee Academy’s Shelby Pickering had the East’s winning goal as the senior all-stars beat the West 4-3.
Mindy Watson of Southern Aroostook, Megan Willette of Waterville and Natasha Deschese of Presque Isle each added another goal for the East. Brunswick’s Megan Rousseau, Bucksport’s Jill Richards, Madawaska’s Kelly Chasse and Winslow’s Brittany Morin contributed an assist apiece.
Bryan Harrington of Belfast and Mindy Morneault of Fort Kent were in goal for the winners.
Cape Elizabeth’s Ali Mehlsak, Maranacook’s Toby Martin and Julie Walters of Wells each scored a goal for the West.
Molly Moss of North Yarmouth, Courtney Albian of South Portland and Tatyaba Wolterbeeck of Wells notched an assist apiece for the West. Wolterbeek and Lisbon’s Gabriele Mathieu shared goal-keeping duties.
For the boys, Justin Morrill of Yarmouth scored the tie-breaker to give the West a 2-1 victory.
Scarborough’s Billy Roy had the other goal and Sinisa Bajic of Portland was credited with the assist. Joseph Monthey of Greely, Andy Sperry of Mount Abram and Kevin Leahy of Yarmouth all spent time in the net.
Oxford Hills’ Willy Libby scored for the East with an assist from Penquis of Milo’s’ Jordan Allen. Brian Lemont of Brunswick, Derick Plourde of Fort Kent and Mark Ensworth of George Stevens were in goal.
