A purple winter coat was the cause of a disturbance Saturday that led to a Bangor man’s arrest.
Bangor police Officer Michael Brennan responded to a call from a woman at an Elm Street apartment who claimed her winter jacket was stolen.
The woman told Brennan that Raymond Mallory, 29, had been drinking with her on Saturday afternoon at her apartment. The woman previously had filed a protective order against Mallory, but admitted to police to letting the man inside her apartment.
When Mallory left, he reportedly took the woman’s coat with him. Police found Mallory walking with the coat near the woman’s apartment. Brennan’s report said the man dropped the jacket when police approached him.
He was arrested for allegedly violating his protection order and his conditions of release. He is not to have any contact with the woman.

Brewer police assisted the Hancock County Sheriff’s Department on Friday in arresting two Bucksport residents on active warrants.
Officer Anthony Pinette and Cpl. Richard Smith went to a Wilson Street motel after receiving a tip that Matthew Reed, 21, was staying there. Reed was wanted on several charges, including night hunting, Brewer police Sgt. Jason Moffitt said Sunday.
Reed’s girlfriend, Desirae Nagle, 21, was in the motel room with him when police arrived Friday. She had an active warrant out of Hancock County.
Both Reed and Nagle were arrested and taken to Penobscot County Jail, Moffitt said, but they will face charges from Hancock County.
