Children inside home as burglary takes place

Bangor police are investigating a burglary at a Dartmouth Street home Sunday night where the burglar or burglars broke in while there were children in the residence.

The burglary took place between 6:30 and 8:45 p.m., a resident told Bangor police Officer Steve Pelletier.

Reported stolen was a Playstation 2 game console along with games, several backpacks, clothing, medications and more than $100 in cash. Two children were at home at the time and told police that they had heard a bang, but thought it was the dog.

According to the police, the burglar or burglars broke in through a basement window.

A woman staying at a South Main Street residence who is unfamiliar with the area called Brewer police early Monday morning to report hearing screams in the distance.

The call came in about 12:40 a.m. and Brewer police Sgt. Jason Moffitt and Cpl. David Lord went to investigate.

After careful review, the pair determined that what the woman was hearing were sea gulls spending the night along the Penobscot River.
