Carol Palesky and her supporters do not understand the issues. Folks in Fort Kent or Camden do not want the citizens of Saco or Dexter to vote on how much the town can collect in property taxes.
Next thing you know the people of Greenville or Raymond could be allowed to vote on how much the folks in York and Orono can spend on repaving our roads. North Main Avenue and Bennoch Road certainly need to be fixed, but I don’t want voters across the state messing with our town budget. There is too much of that going on already.
Unfunded mandates and micro-management are negative activities in our town. Local voters should decide local issues. Do the citizens of Maine really want to turn their town government over to voters statewide?
