Bell named to Black Mountain ski position

RUMFORD – Matthew S. Bell has been named ski patrol director/safety coordinator for Black Mountain of Maine by the Maine Winter Sports Center.

Bell, a Presque Isle native, has competed in several races throughout New England, including the Diana Golden Level I race series in which he remains undefeated. He also has competed at the national and international levels, placing fourth in both the slalom and super G at the Eastern Regionals held in Waterville Valley, N.H.

In addition to his racing schedule, Bell is a dean’s list student at Northern Maine Community College, vice chair of the State Independent Living Council, chair of Maine Outdoor Recreation for Everyone, and is a member of the Presque Isle Zoning Board of Appeals and the Presque Isle Fish and Game Club.

Bell also was appointed by Gov. John E. Baldacci to the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife Disabled Hunters Advisory Council.
