Diabetes education

BANGOR – Vision Care of Maine, St. Joseph Hospital and Dr. Richard McGuckin will hold an educational program on the prevention and control of diabetes at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 18, at the Vision Care Center for Learning, Bangor. Program presenters will be St. Stephen Ebersole, Dr. McGuckin, Nurse Sheryl Sparlin, and Dietitian Georgia Clark-Albert. To make a reservation, call Lin at 945-6200.

Hospital vice president

BANGOR – St. Joseph Healthcare has named Ron Skara vice president for physician practices. Skara will be responsible for coordinating systems and relationships between physician practices and all services provided by St. Joseph Healthcare and St. Joseph Hospital.

Skara comes from Goodall Hospital in Sanford, where he worked for 18 years as administrative assistant and later as vice president for administration.

Skara is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives, a international organization for health care administrators. He holds a master’s degree in health care administration from Ohio State University.
