FARMINGTON – Mike Francoeur scored 18 points to lead Southern Maine to a 112-55 victory over the University of Maine at Presque Isle in the consolation game of the Hight Chevrolet Invitational men’s basketball tournament.

Josh Daniels and Jason Levecque added 14 points each for the Huskies, while Ryan Garland, Foster Oakley and Bill Hardwick scored 10 points each.

Fabian Lennox led UMPI with 28 points.

At Farmington, UM Farmington’s Travis Magnusson was named tournament MVP after scoring 30 points to lead the Beavers past Palm Beach Atlantic in the championship game of the Hight Chevrolet Classic.

Trafton Teague netted 17 points, Steve Ginn scored 16 and Bobby Deetjen scored 13 points for the winners.

Jonathan Maples and Jesse McCue led Palm Beach Atlantic with 14 points each.

WALTHAM, Mass. – Sophomore guard Zak Ray, a Bangor High graduate, scored 15 points and grabbed nine rebounds Sunday to earn tournament MVP honors as Bates defeated Colby-Sawyer in the championship game of the Brandeis University Tip-Off Tournament.

Bates (2-0) opened the game with a 20-6 run and never trailed.

Junior Andrew St. Clair of Pittsfield had 17 points and 13 rebounds for 1-1 Colby-Sawyer, and was named to the all-tournament team.
