Fort Kent man charged in theft of 3 trucks

FORT KENT – A Fort Kent man who may subscribe to the theory that if you do something often enough you’re bound to get it right has been arrested for his efforts.

Jason P. Felice, 19, has been charged with stealing three pickup trucks within seven days. He was taken to the Aroostook County Jail Friday because he could not come up with bail money.

Along with the three alleged thefts, Felice is also charged with criminal mischief, criminal trespass, driving without a license, and violation of probation.

According to Fort Kent Police Chief Kenneth Michaud, Felice is charged with stealing pickups owned by Irving Woodlands, twice, and one owned by Valley Auto, a Fort Kent automobile dealership.

On Nov. 17, police allege that Felice took an Irving pickup truck that was parked behind Andy’s Mainway. The truck was later found abandoned and stuck in the mud on a snowmobile trail off Devoe Brook Road in Eagle Lake. There was little damage to the truck.

On Nov. 19, police allege that Felice took another Irving truck that was left at Andy’s for repairs. Again he allegedly drove to Eagle Lake, where he was involved in some kind of accident that caused $2,000 in damage to the truck. It was later found behind the Subway restaurant in Fort Kent.

On Nov. 23, a third truck was taken, this time from the parking lot at Valley Auto on Main Street. The pickup was used to tear up the property at the Lonesome Pine Ski Lodge. It was also taken to Eagle Lake where Felice allegedly “beat the truck,” according to Michaud. It was later found on East Main Street in Fort Kent.

Michaud said there is extensive damage to the truck. He had no estimate, but the truck had to be towed.

Felice is scheduled to appear in 1st District Court at Fort Kent on Jan. 7. Michaud said there will be a bail hearing for Felice before that date.
