Used cell phone donations

Area residents are encouraged to donate their old, unused cell phones and support a good cause at the same time. U.S. Cellular, through its Community Action Recycling Effort program has collected more than 1,500 old cell phones throughout northern New England during the last five months. The program will continue until the end of the year.

Through the program, donated phones are sold to a company that specializes in restoring, refurbishing and reselling wireless phones. Proceeds from the donated phones benefit the Maine Coalition to End Domestic Violence, a statewide organization whose goal is to end domestic violence in Maine. To learn about the coalition, visit www.mcedv.org.

To donate a used wireless phone, simply go to any local U.S. Cellular store.
