A report of a fight early Thursday morning at Brewer’s Stable Inn brought police who arrested one of the two male combatants on warrants.
The actual fighting incident is being forwarded to the Penobscot County District Attorney’s Office for review to determine what charges, if any, should be filed.
But what was certain Thursday was that Leonard Strom, 50, of Brewer was wanted on warrants.
Brewer police Officer Nelson Feero discovered the outstanding warrants when he ran a check on Strom as part of his investigation into the incident.
Strom was wanted on two warrants – failure to pay a fine on an assault conviction and failure to appear in court on a charge of operating a motor vehicle after license suspension.
Feero searched the motel room where the fight occurred and found a marijuana pipe and a small plastic bag of marijuana where Strom had been. Strom was charged with possession of a usable amount of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia
It may have been raining hard and windy on Wednesday, but Brewer police said that more than weather conditions was involved in an accident where a man driving a pickup struck another vehicle on Wilson Street.
Motorist John A. Robinson, 42, of Orrington was intoxicated, according to police, and he was driving on a learner’s permit.
Brewer police Sgt. Jason Moffitt investigated the accident that occurred about 4:20 p.m. at the intersection of Wilson Street and Parkway South.
Robinson was on Wilson Street heading toward Bangor when he apparently crossed the centerline and struck a pickup heading out Wilson Street toward Holden, according to police.
The driver of the pickup suffered minor injuries, police said.
Moffitt suspected that Robinson had been drinking and the Orrington man performed poorly on field sobriety tests, said Brewer police Lt. Perry Antone.
Robinson’s blood alcohol content registered 0.23 percent on the Intoxilyzer test. He was charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of intoxicants and operating a motor vehicle without a license.
