Open gym

ORONO – The Orono Parks and Recreation Department is offering a way for adults to get out and work off those holiday pounds. The Orono Middle School gym will be open 8-9:30 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday for pick-up basketball. The program is free to Orono residents, $2 for others.

The gym will not be open during school vacations or when school is canceled. To learn more about the open gym program, call 866-5065.

Little Reckees

BANGOR – Bangor Parks and Recreation is starting a new session of Little Reckees. The program, designed to teach participants about team sports, is for children who will be age 3 or 4 on or before Dec. 14.

The program will be held 4-5 p.m. Wednesdays, beginning Dec. 15. It is not a drop-off program and an adult must accompany the child. The fee for the program is $20 for Bangor residents, $25 for others. To learn more about the program, call 992-4490.

Bangor recreation

BANGOR – Bangor Parks and Recreation is offering the following programs:

. Walking at the Parks and Recreation Center, 647 Main St. 7-9 a.m. and noon-2 p.m. Monday-Friday. Free.

. Open gym for preschoolers and their parents, 9:30-11 a.m. Monday-Friday. Free.

. Open gym for families and youth, noon-2 p.m. Sundays, for families; children in grades six-12, with their parents, 2:30-4 p.m. Free.

. Adult open gym volleyball, 7-9 p.m. Mondays, for those at least 18 years old. $2 per session.

. Adult open gym basketball, 7-9 p.m. Tuesdays, for those at least 18 years old. $2 per session.
