ASHLAND – Ashlee Peters scored 16 points and Ashley Nemer had 15 more as the Ashland High School girls basketball team beat Van Buren 52-43 in a mutual season-opener Monday night.

Megan Lajoie netted 14 points for Van Buren. Darci St. Pierre scored 12 points and Andrea McLaughlin added 10.

Ben St. Germain scored on a Ben Dehaven assist at 10:01 into the first period 0-1 Kents Hill. Anthony Barbato stopped 23 of 25 shots.
