Have Maine voters been duped again?
We just returned Democratic majorities to both Houses of our Legislature, and the first example of bipartisanship and a new mindset amongst the new leadership resulted in the election of a completely unqualified individual for state auditor.
Why would we expect our new Democratic leadership to steer the votes towards qualified experienced individuals who happened to be Certified Public Accountants when they could reward a veteran Democratic politician out of work – Neria Douglass – with an over $75,000 a year political plum?
After all the speeches from the newly elected leadership, I expected better than politics as usual. So far, looks like the Maine voter can expect 2005 to be another bait-and-switch session run for and by the Democrats.
