Lindsey Snyder
The Northeast Conference has honored Central Connecticut State’s Lindsey Snyder of Winterport as its women’s swimming athlete of the week. Snyder finished first in the 100 back (59.22 seconds) and took the 200 back in a meet record and school-record time of 2:05.60 at the Nutmeg Invitational, hosted by Yale University. Snyder holds the top time in the NEC in both events. She also led off the 400 medley relay team which posted an NEC best time of 3:57.05, good for a second-place finish in the event.
Luke Nielsen
University of Maine-Farmington center Luke Nielson has been named Player of the Week by the State of Maine Men’s Basketball Coaches’ Association. Nielson was perfect from the field in two contests (9-9), including the game-winner at the buzzer against top-ranked Bates last week. He averaged 12 points and 12 rebounds as the Beavers moved up one spot to third in the state poll.
Essie McKinnon
The University of New England’s Essie McKinnon picked up her second player of the week award from the Maine Women’s Basketball Coaches’ Association after a career- high 25 points in a win over Thomas. For the week she averaged 19.3 points and 6.7 rebounds per game.
Katie McCabe
Colby’s Katie McCabe has been named Co-Rookie of the Week by the Maine Women’s Basketball Coaches’ Association. In two games against nationally ranked opponents, McCabe averaged 10 points and 8.5 rebounds per game. She also picked up three steals and a pair of assists.
Marisa Berne
Marissa Berne of Bowdoin College has been named Co-Rookie of the Week by the Maine Women’s Basketball Coaches’ Association. The freshman from Falmouth had career-high points and rebounds against Colby College. She also had five steals and five assists to go along with her 9.3 points per game.
