KYLE HARVEY

Harvey, a 5-9 junior guard for the Mount View of Thorndike basketball team, averaged 16 points as the Mustangs opened the season with two victories. He scored 15 points in a win against Belfast to open the season, and followed that up with a 17-point effort against Rockland.

Small School (Classes C-D)

EVAN CARTER

Carter, a 6-8 senior center for the Hodgdon basketball team, averaged 16 points and eight blocked shots as the Hawks got off to a 2-0 start. Carter had 15 points, 14 rebounds and seven blocks in a season-opening win against Washburn, then had 17 points and nine blocks against Southern Aroostook of Dyer Brook.

Girls

Big School (Classes A-B)

MARIANNE CROCE

The Camden Hills junior guard scored 13 points and had five rebounds to lead the Windjammers to a win to open their Eastern Maine Class B title defense. Eleven players scored at least two points for Camden Hills, which beat Erskine of South China 60-40 Tuesday.

Small School (Classes C-D)

SHANNON PIETRAS

Pietras, a senior on the Mattanawcook of Lincoln basketball team, scored 19 points, including the winning basket, in a 54-53 win over Stearns of Millinocket Monday. Pietras scored on an offensive rebound at the buzzer to complete a rally by the Lynx.
