BANGOR – More details have been announced regarding the viewing of the World Series championship trophy to be held at the Bangor Civic Center on Saturday.

Ceremonies will begin at 10:30 a.m. outside the Bangor Auditorium, according to Bass Park executive director Mike Dyer. A few brief speeches will be held during the 10-minute ceremony, and the trophy won by the Boston Red Sox representing their first World Series title since 1918 will be on display.

The trophy then will be taken inside the civic center, where beginning at 11 a.m. the doors will be open to the general public to view the trophy. The Bangor viewing is scheduled to conclude at 12:30 p.m.

The event is free to attend, and the public may bring cameras to take pictures of the trophy, Dyer said.

“The only caveat,” he added, “is because the trophy will be here for only a short time, if 3,000 people show up we might have to move people past the trophy pretty more quickly, but if there are only 500 there’ll be more time for everybody.”

The Bangor stop is part of a two-day tour of the World Series championship trophy through Maine. On Friday, a public viewing will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Hadlock Field in Portland, followed by a “rolling rally” along the city’s Congress Street from 2:30 to 3. A rally will follow from 3 to 4 p.m. in Portland’s Monument Square. Boston Red Sox players Mark Bellhorn, Paul Mirabelli, Kevin Youkilis and Lenny Dinardo are scheduled to attend.

On Saturday, public viewings are scheduled at the Aroostook Centre Mall in Presque Isle from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m., in Bangor from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., at the Blaine House in Augusta from 2 to 3 p.m., at The Colisee in Lewiston from 4 to 5:30 p.m., at Telstar Regional High School in Bethel from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. and at The Phoenix at the Sunday River Ski Area in Newry from 7:30 to 10 p.m.
