Powerball winner has yet to claim $100,000

CORINTH – The owner of a winning $100,000 Powerball ticket had not claimed the prize Monday, according to a state lottery spokeswoman.

The ticket was sold at 4:07 p.m. Friday, Dec. 17, at Tradewinds Marketplace in Corinth, said a spokeswoman for the Maine Bureau of Alcoholic Beverages and Lottery Operations.

Store owner and manager Blaine Whitney said Monday he has no idea who bought the ticket.

There are signs inside the store saying that a winning ticket was sold there, Whitney said.

And he noted that there have been more people coming in to check their numbers than usual.

“There’s been just a lot of talk in the store with associates and customers wondering who may have purchased that ticket,” Whitney said.

The store will receive a bonus of 1 percent, or $1,000, for selling the ticket, according to Whitney. “It’s just credited towards our account,” he said.

No one won Saturday’s Powerball drawing, and Wednesday’s jackpot is estimated at $30 million.

Saturday night’s Powerball sales in Maine were worth more than $258,000. Other than the $100,000 winner, players who matched some winning numbers on tickets bought in Maine will share more than $32,000 in prizes.

The Saturday night numbers were 1-25-29-30-45, Powerball 12.
