FRANKFORT – Two juveniles were hospitalized early Sunday after they and two other people were thrown from the bed of a pickup truck that crashed on Mount Waldo.
According to an accident report filed by Waldo County Deputy Sheriff Jason Bosco, one of the juveniles, a male, suffered a back injury. The other, a female, injured her abdomen, the report said.
Both were taken by ambulance to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor.
The accident occurred at 1:46 a.m. when Alan Cross II, 18, of Searsport lost control of his 1986 Ford pickup and drove into a ditch.
His four passengers were riding in the bed of the truck and were thrown into rocks and trees when it crashed.
Bosco noted that Cross was “driving in an unsafe manner” for the road conditions. It had snowed the night before and the roads were slick.
Also riding in the bed of the truck was another male juvenile and Darrell Harvey, 19. Bosco did not list the hometowns of Harvey and the juveniles.
The accident remained under investigation Monday.
