A former Maine AIDS Alliance official will serve time in jail for stealing from the Augusta-based organization that provides support services to people living with HIV-AIDS.

Randall Norcross Jr. of Hallowell was sentenced Monday to three years in jail with all but six months suspended. He will be on probation for four years after his release and is ordered to pay $23,569.75 in restitution to the Maine AIDS Alliance, which serves as the umbrella organization for similar programs throughout the state.

In a lawsuit prosecuted by the Maine Office of the Attorney General, Norcross, 65, pleaded guilty to stealing more than $23,000 between 1999 and the end of 2001, when he served as the organization’s executive director.
