On the House
Give a gift that keeps giving this season with the Bangor Ronald McDonald House’s 20th anniversary cookbook. The book includes many recipes from Maine cooks, as well as dishes from around the country. Proceeds from the sale of the cookbook will benefit the Ronald McDonald House, which serves as a “home away from home” for parents while their children are receiving medical treatment in Bangor. The books cost $10 each (plus $1.50 shipping) and are available by
calling 942-9003. Extra donations will be accepted.
Nibbling noses

Peppermint sips
If you think candy canes are just for kids, think again. This minty martini recipe from Level vodka looks and tastes like candy – perfect for pre-Christmas festivities. To make, prepare a martini glass by making stripes with red icing. Pour 11/2 ounce vodka, 11/2 ounce white chocolate liqueur and 3/4 ounce peppermint schnapps into a mixing glass. Add ice, shake and strain into decorated martini glass. Serve to all your elves (well, the ones over 21, anyway).
