Big School (Classes A-B)

TYLER EASTMAN

The Old Town senior broke a 20-year-old Eastern Maine Indoor Track League record in the shot put during the first meet of the 2004-05 season. Eastman’s effort of 52 feet, 11 inches was one inch better than the previous mark of 52-10 set by Joe Trefethen of Orono in 1984.

Small School (Classes C-D)

CALEB PELLETIER

The Foxcroft Academy senior was named most outstanding wrestler at the McDonald’s Tournament held at Mountain Valley High in Rumford. A Charleston resident, the two-time defending Class C state champion at 152 pounds defeated Tom Rials of Noble of North Berwick in the McDonald’s championship final in his weight class.

GIRLS

Big School (Classes A-B)

CASSIE HINTZ

The Old Town junior set an Eastern Maine Indoor Track League record Monday in the girls two-mile run with a time of 10 minutes, 50.92 seconds. The record bettered her previous mark of 10:55.98 set last year.

Small School (Classes C-D)

EMILY SMITH

Smith, a senior guard for the Calais basketball team, helped win two games for the Blue Devils at the free-throw line. She scored 18 points, including a free throw with no time left in regulation, in a 55-54 win over Washington Academy Thursday. On Monday she went 12 for 15 at the line en route to 19 points and a 63-57 win.
