Bangor temple seeks students

BANGOR – The Temple of the Feminine Divine, founded by Kay Gardner, will begin a new Iseum Musicum class in February. Men and women wishing to explore and deepen their spiritual lives and serve others are urged to apply.

The three-year curriculum will include divination, the goddess as archetype of the feminine divine, environmental studies, psychic skills, organization, feminism and gender studies, mythology and woman-centered cultures, healing modalities, ethics, creating public events and rituals, conflict resolution, creative expression, counseling and ritual.

The curriculum was drawn from national and international programs and tailored to meet the philosophy of the Temple of the Feminine Divine.

The course of study leads to ordination into the Temple of the Feminine Divine and the Fellowship of Isis. Ten students were ordained as priestesses in November 2001.

The philosophy of the Temple of the Feminine Divine values the power of feminine energy, and honors and respects the inherent worth and sacredness of all. It honors Mother Nature. It encourages balance and harmony in the relationship between human and nature, women and men, human and divine.

Members of the temple have access to professional ordained clergy, goddess-oriented meditation space, space for small indoor rituals, rental space for classes and workshops, and use of a lending library of 500 books.

The Iseum Musicum is conducted in three six-week sessions during the three-year course of study, two in the spring and one in the fall. The cost for each session is $120, or $20 per week. A limited number of scholarships are available.

To obtain more information or to schedule an appointment, call the temple at 941-0261 and leave name, address, phone number and reason for the call.
