Cook helps Shead dish up victory

JONESPORT – Taunya Cook scored 13 points and grabbed 11 rebounds as Shead of Eastport outscored Jonesport-Beals 18-10 in the fourth quarter to earn a 50-44 girls basketball victory Wednesday night.

Skylar Richardson also scored 13 points, while Fawn Cummings added 10.

Tina Beal scored 14 points for the Royalettes, while Kristi Smith had 13 points and 12 rebounds.

At Milo, Ryan Yeo notched the winning basket for the Pirates with two seconds left.

Yeo and Mike Wharff each contributed 13 points to Piscataquis of Guilford’s win.

Jordan Allen scored 19 for the Patriots and also tied the game in regulation. Alex Zwicker’s lone goal sent the game into the second overtime.

At T.J. Ryan Center in Brewer, Chris Pease and Dan Mangano each scored two goals and five other players had one goal apiece as the Broncos rolled.

Mike Brown, Nick Beal, Matt Soucy, Steve Boutin and Cory Morin each scored for 3-0 Hampden. Kevin Brooks, Paul Morrison and Jason Huntley chipped in with two assists apiece. Ryan Richards stopped 16 of 17 shots and Rory Woods made two saves on two shots.

Zach Greenier scored off an assist from Ron St. Pierre for the 0-3 Crusaders of Bangor. Nate Kuneman made 30 saves on 39 shots.

Presque Isle 11, Old Town 0

At Orono, junior Erik St. Peter scored four goals as the undefeated Wildcats earned their fourth victory.

Ryan Cyr and David O’Brien added two goals each, while Sean Flanigan, Corey Collins and Brandon Berube chipped in with one goal apiece. Robert Gartley had two assists for Presque Isle.

Brendon Esquibel earned the shutout in goal with 16 saves. Old Town’s Jason Trask stopped 51 of 62 shots.
