The current administration has betrayed our trust by waging a pre-emptive war in Iraq, not keeping promises to the troops, failing to protect the environment, creating a absurd prescription drug bill and underfunding the No Child Left Behind initiative. They claim they are keeping us safe from terrorists while our borders, power plants, infrastructure and shipping ports remain unsecured while Osama bin Laden remains at large, taunting us. Still, we’re supposed to trust them.
We spend billions on war machinery and subsidies to Halliburton. Added to that are Bush’s tax cuts for the rich and big corporations – all contributing to the biggest deficit and trade imbalance in history. (Worried yet?) In addition, the president said he wants to cut domestic spending, which can only result in higher state taxes.
And finally, he wants to destroy Social Security, the most successful social program ever created. It is now in jeopardy because the government has recklessly borrowed against OUR accounts and refuses to put tax dollars in place to fund it properly for the years ahead.
Yet, we’re to trust Bush and his administration to fix it with a risky privatization scheme structured to make Wall Street brokers richer. I think not.
