Convention & Visitors Bureau

BANGOR – The Greater Bangor Convention & Visitors Bureau has announced its newly elected board of directors and the slate of officers for 2005.

Chairman is Bob Brown Jr. from Eastern Maine Community College; first vice chairman is Jonathan Daniels Eastern of Maine Development Corp.; second vice chairman is Bob Bangs from Windswept Gardens; secretary is James Gerety from the Bangor Mall; treasurer is John Marko from America’s Best Inn; and past chairman is Jack Quirk from Quirk Auto Park.

Directors elected for one-year terms are: Bob Bangs, Windswept Gardens; Bob Brown Jr., EMCC; Marlene Charron, University of Maine Conferences & Institutes; John Marko, America’s Best Inn; Tom Palmer, Best Western Black Bear Inn; Jack Quirk, Quirk Auto Park; and, new to the board, Jane Arey, Spectacular Event Center.

Directors newly elected for three-year terms are: Vivian Cammack, Four Points Sheraton; Free Martin, Ramada Inn; Rebecca Hupp, Bangor International Airport; Kathy Tenga-Gonzalez, Quantum Corral; and Jeff Ashey, Jeff’s Catering.

Directors continuing current terms are: Kelly Cotiaux, Sephone Internet Solutions; Jonathan Daniels, EMDC; Mo Fer, ERA Dawson Real Estate; James Gerety, Bangor Mall; Robin Levasseur, Cyr Bus; Mike Young, WABI TV; Mike Palmer, WVII TV; Dorain Foster, Lucerne Inn; and Mike Fern, Bangor Daily News.

Ex officio board members are: Suzanne Hawes, city of Bangor; Drew Sachs, city of Brewer; Sally Bilancia, Bass Park; Kathy Patterson, city of Bangor; a representative from the Bangor Region Chamber of Commerce; state Sen. Joe Perry; and Glenn Goodwin, Loiselle, Goodwin, Hinds.

Clay-animation filmmaking

BANGOR – C.L.A.E., a clay-animation filmmaking business, has opened recently at 96 Harlow St. Owners Faye and Peter McDermott and their son Peter McDermott II conduct workshops at the studio and in schools or other venues. The business will conduct Camp C.L.A.E. this summer and take part in the Camp Bangor Fair from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 9, at Bangor Civic Center.
