PRESQUE ISLE – Kris Freeman of Andover, N.H., took the lead from the beginning in The Aroostook Medical Center Nordic Heritage men’s 10-kilometer classic race Wednesday and won in a time of 27 minutes, 40.15 seconds.

Chris Mallory, a student at the University of New Hampshire, was second with a time of 30:37.22.

In the women’s race, Dorcas Wonsavage won the overall 10-km classic race in 35:40.08, more than two minutes ahead of Susan Dunklee (38:01.36).

In the junior2 class, Fritz Horst of Stratton Mountain (Vt.) School was first (16:21.8) and teammate Steven Bedard second (16:28.7) in the boys race. Stratton’s Parker Tyler won the girls race in 18:54.43 and teammate Madeline Talkington second (19:08.81).
