SAD 63 must be relieved that the tax cap didn’t pass. After all, about 80 percent of Holden’s property taxes go to run the schools.

Don’t believe the town will go broke as SAD 63 continues to spend money like Enron? Don’t worry about a tax cap eliminating valued municipal, police and fire services that we currently have, SAD 63 will do it for us.

There appears to be no concern to put a hold on spending.

No mention has been made of the few in leadership who contribute nil to their full self and family health, dental and optical benefits compliments of SAD 63 taxpayers.

According to the same public board meeting they are actually saving us money in the central office and there are fewer people working there than before. The central office has a superintendent, secretary, budget assistant, part-time bookkeeper, special education administrator and secretary, while payroll is outsourced.

Yes, with all these folks working in that office, nothing is made public. Last year’s budget leadership line indicates one-eighth of the $8,015,730 SAD 63 2004-2005 budget covers the operational cost of the central office. Can anyone give an accurate monetary figure on what mil rate SAD 63 spends on administration compared to area schools?

Or do we need some more assistants to the assistants to answer the big, going-for-broke question?
