NEWRY – A Massachusetts man was killed when he skied off an expert slope and into the woods at the Sunday River ski resort over the weekend.
John Kerr, 46, of Sharon may have hit a tree or a lift tower near the White Heat trail on Saturday, according to the Oxford County Sheriff’s Department.
It was Maine’s first skier fatality of the season.
The sheriff’s office was awaiting the official cause of death from the state medical examiner. Chief Deputy Jim Davis said investigators were not aware of any medical condition that may have contributed to the accident.
