I’m sure Bangor Police Lt. Tim Reid means well when he says (BDN, Dec. 25-26), “I would say in a typical robbery situation, if somebody comes up and wants your money, your watch, your wallet, you immediately give them what they want.”
Who defines “typical”?
I think most people will size up each situation as the unique event it is, i.e., “does this person look serious? Do they have a weapon? Are there other people in the vicinity?”
Sadly, some authorities feel we should just say “OK” and hope the robber gets caught or our cash, wallets and watches will be recovered. Perhaps, on occasion, it’s acceptable to say, “No, you cannot have my wallet!”
