DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Alyssa Burns scored 16 points, grabbed 11 rebounds and made six steals to lead Maine Maritime Academy of Castine to a 62-46 women’s basketball victory over SUNY-Potsdam on Thursday in the Land of Magic Classic.
Michelle Gott netted 14 points and Amy Freeman provided 10 for the Mariners, who shot 47 percent from the field.
Kathleen Lewis led SUNY-Potsdam with 11 points. Darcell Lucas grabbed 13 rebounds as the Bears earned a 50-35 edge.

At Arlington, Va., Tiffany Jones racked up 22 points, including a 10-for-17 effort from the foul line as the Huskies of Gorham prevailed in the Marymount Tourney Championship game.
USM was down 40-25 at halftime but outscored Marymount 44-22 in the second half, shooting 44.8 percent from the floor after shooting just 18.5 percent in the first half.
Ashley Marble chipped in with 13 for the winners.
Kacee Grogan paced Marymount with 13 points. Katie Armentrout notched 12.
