Plourde’s free throw lifts Fort Kent to win

ORONO – Derrick Plourde’s free throw with four seconds was the winning point as Fort Kent edged Orono 51-50 in a schoolboy basketball game Thursday.

Tom Bard paced the Warriors offensively with 12 points, while Sam Bard and Seth Rivera added 11 points each.

Adam Chase led Orono with 12 points, while Travis Dunton scored 11.

Brad Baker and Brad Young also scored for Presque Isle, now 5-0-1. Corey Collins contributed three assists, while Erik St. Peter, Robert Gartley and David O’Brien each had one assist for the Wildcats.

Josh Stewart scored for 0-3-1 Stearns of Millinocket on an assist from Mike Simon.

Presque Isle goalie Brendon Esquibel made 11 saves on 12 shots, while Stearns’ Jay Kim stopped 12 of 18 shots.
