Sarah, 11, is a bright girl with a great deal of potential to be successful in the right home. She is athletic and enjoys participating in various sporting activities, including softball, soccer and basketball.
Sarah also enjoys riding bikes and dining at Chinese restaurants. She has expressed a desire for parents who have energy and “like to do things.” One wish Sarah has expressed is to have a “real birthday party.”
A lover of animals, Sarah would like to be part of a family that has pets. She also would do best with older siblings rather than younger ones. Sarah came into the care of the state Department of Health and Human Services in 1995.
Sarah is in the sixth grade. While she has had some difficulty with school in the past, she has been motivated to do her best this year.
Sarah has the ability to be an exceptional student and has scored well above average in aptitude testing. She has expressed interest in attending college after she graduates from high school.
As a result of the many losses she has experienced in her life, Sarah needs a family that will be patient with her as she learns to trust that they will continue to care for her.
Sarah is one of 218 Maine children in the care of the Maine Department of Health and Human Services care who are seeking an adoptive family. For more information about Sarah or other children available for adoption, contact A Family for ME at 1-877-505-0545 or visit www.afamilyforme.org.
Based in Gardiner, A Family for ME is a nonprofit program that works in collaboration with Maine DHHS to find foster and adoptive families for Maine children in care.
