BANGOR – A blown transformer at the corner of Main and Buck streets temporarily left Bangor Hydro-Electric Co. customers in the dark Sunday evening.

According to a Bangor Hydro spokesman, the outage occurred shortly after 5:30 p.m. and affected customers on Main, Buck, Lincoln, Larkin, Cedar and Sidney streets and on other nearby routes. The Bangor Daily News was among the customers affected.

Power was restored by approximately 7:30 p.m., the Bangor Hydro spokesman said.

It was not known Sunday night what caused the transformer to blow or how many homes were affected by the loss of power.
