BREWER – The newest addition to the Applebee’s Neighborhood Bar & Grill family of restaurants will officially open its doors to the public on Monday in Brewer.
People who drive by the new restaurant, located at 688 Wilson St., on Saturday, however, will see waiters and waitresses busily serving food and beverages during their final training session, which is also an invitation-only fund-raiser to purchase new band uniforms for Brewer High School.
“Guests will eat and drink for free but are requested to donate a minimum of $5 per person to benefit the fund, so that the band will be closer to acquiring new uniforms,” an Applebee’s press release states.
A ribbon cutting is set for 10:30 a.m. on Monday with City Manager Steve Bost, members of the Bangor Region Chamber of Commerce and other local dignitaries. The doors will open for lunch at 11 a.m.
About 90 people will be employed at the Wilson Street restaurant, which can seat 166 customers.
The Applebee’s menu includes a full range of foods and includes a special 10- to 12-item Weight Watcher menu section and items for children.
Another attribute of the new restaurant is its curbside pickup, general manager Kyle Russell of Hampden, said.
“Everyone can benefit from our Carside To Go service,” he said. “You won’t even have to get out of your vehicle to pick up an order. Simply call in your order and we will bring it to your car.”
A special Carside To Go parking space is located at the site in Brewer.
Applebee’s International Inc., headquartered in Overland Park, Kan., currently operates more than 1,600 Applebee’s restaurants in 49 states and eight countries.
“I think the Applebee’s … is going to continue to bring more and more people to the Wilson Street area, which can only be good,” Drew Sachs, Brewer economic development director, said Wednesday.
