Gov. John Baldacci welcomed Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts from the Katahdin Area Council Boy Scouts of America to his office as the Scouts wrapped up their annual popcorn sale. Baldacci, as honorary chairman, welcomed several of last year’s top salesmen and other local boys. The governor purchased an assortment of microwave popcorn to share with his family.

Before their meeting with the governor, the Scouts toured the Hall of Flags in the Capitol building and learned about Maine’s history. Participants this year were Jake Deschaine of Brewer, Andrew Braley of Dixmont and Andrew Henry, Jordon Henry, Devon Forbush and Chris Francis of Hampden.

Baldacci congratulated each of the Scouts on their achievements in Scouting. He told them what he likes best about his job is that it gives him the opportunity to meet outstanding young people like the Scouts.
