BINGHAM – Ryan Yeo scored 24 points as Piscataquis Community High of Guilford defeated Valley 54-45 and handed the Cavaliers their first home-court boys basketball defeat since 1996.
PCHS, which posted its fifth straight win since a 1-4 start, held a slight lead after each period. It was the Cavs’ first loss in eight games this season.
The Pirates, coincidentally, ended Valley’s state-record 101-game winning streak with an 80-75 overtime victory at Guilford on Feb. 5, 2002.
Mike Wharff and Roy Burdin each added 10 points for PCHS, which outscored Valley 15-4 from the free-throw line.
Travis Hovey led Valley with 16 points, while Mark Hyland scored 15.
