PCHS, which posted its fifth straight win since a 1-4 start, held a slight lead after each period.

The Pirates, ironically, ended Valley’s state-record 101-game winning streak with an 80-75 overtime victory at Guilford on Feb. 5, 2002.

Mike Wharff and Roy Burdin each added 10 points for PCHS, which outscored Valley 15-4 from the free-throw line.
