MAINE vs. NEW HAMPSHIRE

Time, site: 7 p.m., Lundholm Gym, Durham, N.H.

Records: Maine 7-6 (2-2 in America East), UNH 5-8 (1-3)

Series, last meeting: Maine leads 103-61, Maine 60-58 Feb. 11, 2004

Key players: Maine – 6-2 G Ernest Turner (14.7 ppg, 3.0 apg, 2.7 rpg), 6-2 G Kevin Reed (11.4 ppg, 6.8 rpg, 1.9 spg), 6-11 F Mark Flavin (8.3 ppg, 5.3 rpg, 1.3 bpg), 6-7 G-F Joe Campbell (7.3 ppg, 5.5 rpg), 6-4 G-F Jermaine Jackson (7.3 ppg, 3.2 rpg); UNH – 6-8 F Blagov Janev (12.8 ppg, 5.9 rpg), 6-8 C Ben Sturgill (10.4 ppg, 6.7 rpg), 6-1 G Jermaine Anderson (9.9 ppg, 2.8 rpg, 2.2 spg), 6-8 F Mike Christenson (8.5 ppg, 4.5 rpg, 2.5 apg), 5-8 G Chris Vetrano (7.6 ppg, 3.4 apg, 2.0 rpg)

Outlook: The Black Bears are coming off two straight conference road losses, but the Wildcats are struggling even more. This is a game Maine should and must win to regain some momentum after letting a big win over Vermont get away from them. The Bears are averaging 65.8 points per game while shooting 41.8 percent from the field and giving up an average of 64.4 while holding opponents to 39.5 shooting. UNH is shooting 41.9 percent, but is scoring at a 63.0 ppg clip while giving up 68.0. Maine needs to cut down its turnovers (18.3 per game) and will probably use a taller lineup against a very big UNH frontcourt. Look for the Bears to try and keep two big men on the court rather than a four-guard lineup.
