Police charge Bangor woman with trespassing at EMMC

A Bangor woman was removed on Tuesday from Eastern Maine Medical Center and charged with criminal trespass. Bangor police Sgt. Paul Edwards was dispatched to the scene.

The 57-year-old woman was triaged at the EMMC Emergency Department for a psychological evaluation, and was being verbally threatening and physically aggressive, according to a police report.

Once moved to another room, she continued to threaten all those who were around her. She threatened to kick any male who approached her in the genitals, and threatened to spit on them. She would not allow doctors to obtain her vital signs, and refused to sign a consent to treatment form.

After multiple attempts by staff to treat her, she was discharged. She was escorted to a lobby and was told by a nurse that she had to leave. She refused again, and Edwards arrested her and took her to Penobscot County Jail.

An employee at Mount Hope Variety in Bangor was summoned for theft on Wednesday.

Another employee said that Lisa Gerrish, 40, of Bangor, was visible in security camera footage stealing money from the registers over the weekend.

The employee had also noticed a discrepancy between the cash in the register and the tape while Gerrish worked, including numerous voids between the amounts of $20 and $60.

Officer Marty McRae visited Gerrish at her home and spoke with her. Gerrish reportedly denied ever stealing from the store, but McRae issued her a summons for theft.
