ROCKLAND – Rockland police reported Monday that a Holden man was arrested late Friday at the Trade Winds Motor Inn for allegedly stealing four handguns last month from Torpacka’s Gun Shop.

Mark Strang, 39, was charged with theft and burglary, both felonies, after police searched his motel room Friday evening and recovered all of the stolen weapons, Sgt. Kenneth Smith said Monday.

The North Main Street business, owned by Maurice Torpacka, was entered Dec. 31, Smith said, noting Strang is accused of breaking into the shop in the early morning hours that day. The weapons are valued at $1,800, he said.

Rockland police criminal investigation division conducted the probe.
