Bradford hits 1,000th as Sabers roll

ORRINGTON – Junior Brock Bradford scored 36 points, including the 1,000th of his career, to lead Calvary Chapel Christian to a 68-41 boys basketball victory over Greenville on Thursday night.

Bradford also had 11 rebounds, five assists, and four steals for the Sabers. Bryan Miller had 16 points and 11 rebounds and Ian Seekins added 14 rebounds.

Joe Jardine led Greenville with 26 points and Kyle Belmont scored 10 points.

Roy Burdin tossed in 14 points to key the Pirates and Ryan Yeo added 12.

Josh Hunnefeld, J.P. Leibfarth, and Brian Leighton each had a goal for John Bapst while P.J. Hopkins, Ron St. Pierre, and Alex Yeats added assists. Nate Kuneman made 14 saves on 16 shots.

Ryan Millet and Ryan Currier notched a goal each for the 0-10-1 Indians. Chris St. Louis had an assist, and Jason Trask stopped 40 of 45 shots.

At Hinckley, Tonya Richard-son scored six of her game-high 14 points in the third quarter as Averill outscored Highview Christian of Charleston 12-5 to build a five-point lead.

Averill rattled off an 8-0 run to open the second period.

Leslie Bell had eight points for the winners, including four in the decisive third quarter.

Michala Rowe had 10 points to lead Highview Christian. Jana Philbrick had 14 rebounds and her twin sister Jade contributed 10 rebounds.
