FARMINGTON – The University of Maine-Farmington held Maine Maritime Academy to 35 percent shooting and made 75 percent of its free throws on the way to a 62-55 North Atlantic Conference women’s basketball victory Thursday night.
Kari Simpson led Beavers, now 9-0 in the NAC, with 18 points and eight rebounds. Brandi Rideout tossed in 14 points and Karen Sirois added 10.
Julia Knights sparked the Mariners of Castine (8-2 NAC) with 15 points and 10 rebounds while Alyssa Burns chalked up 11 points and 10 boards.

At Farmington, Travis Carrier had 11 points, 15 rebounds, three steals and three blocked shots to lead the University of Maine-Farmington to the narrow victory.
Bobby Deetjen scored eight points and had 10 rebounds for the Beavers, now 5-1 in the North Atlantic Conference, and Luke Nielsen had 12 rebounds.
Neil Stewart led Maine Maritime Academy of Castine (0-8 NAC) with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Brandon Hall had 10 points and eight rebounds.
