It’s ironic that the current Senate Democratic leaders are so opposed to the success of democracy in Iraq. One only needs to remember the words of John F. Kennedy in his inaugural address in 1961 to realize how far today’s Democratic Party has drifted.

“Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe to assure the survival and the success of liberty.”

In his speech in Berlin, Kennedy later urged Berliners and the world to have a vision of freedom:

“So let me ask you as I close, to lift your eyes beyond the dangers of today, to the hopes of tomorrow, beyond the freedom merely of this city of Berlin, or your country of Germany, to the advance of freedom everywhere, beyond the wall to the day of peace with justice, beyond yourselves and ourselves to all mankind.”

It’s clear that President Bush has the same vision as Kennedy.
