FORT KENT – A delegation of 10 Ukrainian education administrators participating in the State Department’s Community Connections program will visit the University of Maine at Fort Kent Tuesday, Feb. 8.
Delegation members, who come from the southeastern Ukraine city of Zaporizhzhya, will learn about Acadian culture and how local educators teach it to area students.
After a lecture by UMFK Assistant Professor of Education Gil Albert, the group will attend a traditional Acadian dinner hosted by UMFK President Richard Cost.
The Community Connections program offers practical training opportunities for business and professional people of Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Ukraine and Uzbekistan.
Maine has hosted more than 20 such Community Connections delegations.
