PORTLAND – A New York education company announced Thursday that it has acquired Andover College, which has campuses in Portland and Lewiston.
Kaplan Inc., a subsidiary of The Washington Post Co., said it bought the 38-year-old school for an undisclosed price.
Andover offers associate degrees in fields such as accounting, business administration, paralegal studies, computer technology, travel and hospitality management and criminal justice. It has nearly 700 students.
Former owner Mark Jenkins said the sale to Kaplan will enable Andover to expand its academic offerings and enhance its economic development contributions to Maine.
Kaplan said it now has campuses in 72 locations in 17 states.
