DETROIT – A wood stove was being blamed Tuesday for damage done to a Detroit home belonging to Joseph Gerry.

Detroit firefighters went to the 9:30 a.m. fire, which heavily damaged one wall of the small, single-story wooden home on Gerry Place.

The fire was extinguished quickly but, fearing that it was spreading inside the walls, Detroit Fire Department requested that Pittsfield Fire Department bring its thermal imaging camera. It was determined that the fire had not spread, said David Wright of the Detroit Fire Department.

Family members assisted Gerry in removing the section of wall from behind the wood stove. No one was injured in the fire.
