A beautiful girl with blond hair, captivating eyes and a wonderful sense of humor, Lydia loves to laugh and play. She is kind and nurturing with younger children and loves to help out.
Lydia, 9, and her three siblings came into the care of the Maine Department of Health and Human Services in May 2002. She has been in the same placement with her brothers Aaron, 11, and Ralph, 7, since coming into care.
The children would like to be adopted together and also to maintain contact with their older sister, Brittany, 13.
Optimistic and resilient, Lydia also enjoys horseback riding, gymnastics, dancing and computer games. Lydia and her brothers visited Great Skates in Bangor in early November for the filming of a series of “Thursday’s Child” segments that were scheduled to air on WABI 5 in December and January.
The children had a great time at Great Skates, giving in-line and traditional roller skates a try. After sampling both types, Lydia went for the additional balance and stability that traditional skates provide.
Lydia and her brothers were very outgoing and friendly during the filming session, speaking openly to WABI 5 news anchor Sharon Pelletier about adoption and the type of family in which they would like to live. They seemed most interested in a “nice family that does not fight all the time.”
Lydia likes to ride her bike, swim at the YMCA, skateboard and go to summer camps. She also is fond of playing basketball and softball and playing on seasonal soccer teams. Lydia has made great progress during the past two years. She is in the third grade and is not receiving any special services. She would do well in a nurturing family with consistent structure and routine.
Adoption subsidy may be available to the most appropriate family.
Lydia, Aaron and Ralph are three of the 218 Maine children in Maine DHHS care who are seeking an adoptive family. For more information about Lydia and her siblings or other children available for adoption, contact A Family for ME at 1-877-505-0545 or visit www.afamilyforme.org.
