Brewer Witches shut out Indians

BREWER – Dan Shufelt and Ben Caldwell each scored three goals Saturday to power the Brewer Witches to a 12-0 Class A hockey victory over Skowhegan at the T.J. Ryan Center.

Davey Perry scored two goals for the 11-6 Witches and Reid McLaughlin had a goal and two assists. Zach Wilson, Matt Wilson and Ted Kotredes each scored a goal. Matt Grimes and Marc Relford both had two assists as Jimmy Nicknair stopped all nine shots.

Ben Jordan made 34 saves on 46 shots for 0-16 Skowhegan.

Hampden 10, Stearns 0

At T.J. Ryan Arena, Brewer, Chris Pease and Dan Mangano each scored two goals to lead Hampden Academy to victory.

Jason Huntley scored a goal and assisted three others for 11-5-1 Hampden and Ian Lee had a goal and two assists. Kevin Brooks, Matt Soucy and Paul Morrison each scored a goal and had an assist and Troy Gaudet scored a goal. Ryan Richards and Cam Murray combined to stop all eight shots.

Jay Kim and Paul Rucci combined to make 53 saves on 63 shots for 1-13-1 Stearns of Millinocket.

Brunswick 6, Bangor 3

At Sawyer Arena in Bangor, the Dragons took advantage of the Rams’ penalty woes while scoring four second-period goals on their way to victory.

Josh Clark scored two goals for 10-6-1 Brunswick, while Steve May, Alex Babin, Henry Aschauer and Kit Smith tallied one apiece. Dennis Estes made 17 saves on 20 shots.

Nick Payson scored all three goals for 12-4 Bangor. T.J. Vanidestine provided two assists while Dylan George and Jason Eremita added one each.

Aaron Buzzell and Jamie Hardy combined to made 14 saves on 20 shots.

JV: 2-2

Houlton-Hodgdon 3, Winslow 2

At Houlton’s Millar Arena, Sam Carter scored a power-play goal on assists from Ben Henderson and Tyler Hutchinson with 4:07 left in overtime to give the Black Hawks the victory.

Houlton-Hodgdon (8-5-2) had taken a 2-0 lead on goals by Mitch Hall and Micah Carton that were assisted by Ian Pasquarelli.

But 13-4-1 Winslow rallied, with Clint Willoughby scoring on a Ben Grant assist and Andy Wheeler tying the game with 3:09 left in the third period on assist from Nate Pelletier and Brock LeClair.

Houlton-Hodgdon goalie Nic Joslyn stopped 35 of 37 shots. Devon Grenier saved 32 of 35 shots for Winslow.

Presque Isle 2, John Bapst 1 (OT)

At Presque Isle, Ted Gagnon scored the game-winning goal off a Mike McGlinn assist at 2:45 into overtime to give Presque Isle the win.

Brandon Daigle scored the 9-5-2 Wildcats’ first goal off a Brad Baker assist 3:45 into the third period. Brendan Esquibel stopped 15 of 16 shots.

Zac Greenier scored at 4:15 of the first on a Brian Leighton assist for 5-9 John Bapst of Bangor. Nate Kuneman made 28 saves on 30 shots.
