Bucksport upsets Foxcroft Carmichael’s late shot lifts Golden Bucks past Ponies

BUCKSPORT – Joey Carmichael hit a foul-line jumper in the final 30 seconds Saturday, lifting the Bucksport Golden Bucks to a season-ending 65-64 upset boys basketball victory over second-seeded Foxcroft Academy.

Foxcroft had a chance to win it, but Matt Carey missed a shot at the buzzer.

Carmichael finished with 12 points, 10 rebounds and six assists for Bucksport. Todd Freeman led the Bucks with 18 points and Cameron Gray added 15.

Bobby Gilbert’s game-high 33 points led the Ponies and Kyle Rideout added 19.

At Lincoln, senior forward Jordan Allen scored 27 points, including the 1,000th of his career, as Penquis of Milo held off Mattanawcook Academy for its 10th straight win.

Allen made 9 of 11 free throws, and scored 21 points in the second half as Penquis maintained the lead. Devin Perkins added nine points.
