Maine Progressive Caucus plans meeting

AUGUSTA – The Maine Progressive Caucus will hold its first general assembly meeting of 2005 on Saturday, Feb. 19, from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Augusta City Hall at 16 Cony St.

The meeting will feature film clips and reports from the Progressive Democrats of America conference last month in Washington, D.C. A state legislative update and organization reports will be followed by discussion of a proposed MPC field plan and votes on any political resolutions the group might want to make.

The statewide meeting is open to the public, but only members of the organization will be allowed to vote. Registrations for membership will be accepted at the meeting. Pre-registrations for new members are encouraged, with more information on the organization and how to sign up available online at www.maineprogressive.org.

Maine Progressive Caucus, an affiliate of the national Progressive Democrats of America, held its founding convention in November 2004 in Augusta. It is now forming county chapters throughout the state.
